のんびりしたい人への、世界で一番小さいナマケモノが、
世界で一番のんびりした方法で、自分の島を守った物語。
パナマ沖4.3km²の小さな島、エスカド・デ・ベラグア。

ここに住むナマケモノの名前はミミコ。

デカ夫はナマケモノにしては行動が早いことで有名で、1週間に2回くらい木を変えるツワモノだ。

デカ夫はため息をついた。

実はミミコの毛に住む藻が、風で変な音を出していただけだった。

船はあっという間に出て行った。

島に静寂が戻る。

“You told one heck of a lie!”

「私に触ったら……本当に……ナマケモノみたいに……のんびりしたくなるよ……」
“If you touch me… you really will… feel like becoming… a sloth…”
ミミコは優しく微笑んだ。

「だって……ナマケモノになるって……最高じゃん……」
“Because… becoming a sloth… is the best, right…?”
その日から、島は「触ると幸せになるナマケモノがいる」という噂でいっぱいになった。

研究者は来なくなったけど、代わりに「癒されたい人」がちょこちょこ船で訪れるようになった。
